What a treat it is to be a part of this excellent, dynamic team, so thoroughly committed to student growth and success!
This is my eleventh wonderful year of teaching elementary school French Immersion. I have had the good fortune to work in a variety of school settings: Grade 2 French Immersion at École James S. McCormick in Lacombe for 4 years; Grade 3 French Immersion at École Steffie Woima Elementary School in Sylvan Lake for 2 years; and a Grade 3 /4 split French Immersion class at École Olds Elementary School in Olds during the 2015-2106 school year. I joined the École Barrie Wilson Elementary School team as the Grade 5 French Immersion teacher in 2016-17. Since then, I have taught a Grade 4/5 split French Immersion class, and a Grade 3/4 French Immersion split class. This year I will be teaching Grade 2 French Immersion along with Monsieur Niemetz. The other part of my day will be spent helping our students as part of the Learning Assitance Team.
French has been a lifelong passion: I am a product of French Immersion, and have had the opportunity to study in Montreal and Paris, as well as to obtain certification as a DELF Assessor for Levels A1 through to B2. (DELF stands for the Diplôme d'études en langue française; it is awarded by the Ministry of Education in France as evidence of the French-language skills of non-French candidates.)
But the very best part is helping students learn and grow…with the happy by-product of continuing to learn and grow in the process...while working in collaboration with our fabulous BW team!
I am looking forward to all that this year will bring!
Mme. Groves :)
